Nicely mellowed pre-war saloon; part way through 12v conversion; has been in recent use; a sweet original car

The buff logbook tells us that AGU 98 was purchased new by Mr and Mrs Davies of Twickenham. They acquired it through their local Austin dealer Obeys Garage and used it for weekend motoring until it was laid up, undercover, during the war.

Mrs Davies' niece - Mrs R Harvey took over the car in 1962, the little Austin being used by her husband. At this time, it had covered 27,000 miles and continued to be in regular use until 1968 when they took a posting overseas, the car going into storage until their return in 1974.

Four years later it was sold to Mr Whally who kept it for a further 11 years, changing hands once more in 1989. Its new owner kept a detailed log of every bit of maintenence, from tightenting head studs to new rear spring bushes. This lasted until they sold it again in 2004. Experian tells us it changed hands a couple more times before coming into the vendor's hands in 2020.

Lockdown sadly prevented him from getting the most out of it and a subsequent loss of storage has meant the car has to be sold. He had embarked on a conversion from 6-12volts, a job which was nearly completed bar the fitting of the regulator which is included with the sale.

On offer at No Reserve, it will appeal to someone looking for a nicely patinated and highly original car which just needs a few small jobs to get it back on the road. It comes with its buff logbook, old style V5 and current V5C. In addition there are some bills and invoices as well as no fewer than 40 old MOTs!! These show that just a few miles have been added each year. There is also a nice owner's handbook.

These Austin 10s have a very strong following, in part down to the excellent spares supply so keeping them running is both easy and cheap. On offer at No Reserve, the best bid on the day buys the car.
