2001 Porsche 911 Carrera (996)
Fully loaded
3.4 manual 996 with desirable GT3 Aero kit and 18inch split rim wheels in lovely
order showing just 80,000 miles with IMS work recently carried
out
Supplied new in March 2001 this attractive 996
series 911 is in Carrera 2 guise and features the 296Bhp 3.4 litre flat six
engine driving the rear wheels here through desirable 6-speed manual
transmission.
Finished in unusual Meridian Silver metallic (L6A6) with
black full leather interior (AD) this particular car looks to boast an extensive
options list, and we gather, was used as a promotional car when new.
The
options sticker under the bonnet includes – Sports exhaust system (XLF) – which
sounds superb, centre console painted in the car’s colour (XME), 18-inch
Sport-Classic 2-piece alloy wheels (XRB), Porsche crest embossed in the
headrests (XSC), Alu look instrument faces (X71), aluminium inlay gearlever
(X97), aluminium inlay handbrake lever (X98), LH seat heating (139), automatic
anti-dazzle mirror and rain sensor (265), automatic anti-dazzle door mirrors
(266), headlamp washer (288), RH seat heating (340), 2-way electric Sports seat
LH & RH (375 & 376), CD compartment (424), rear window wiper (425),
3-spoke steering wheel (436), PSM Porsche stability management (476), basic
sound system (490), top-tinted windscreen (567), Litronic (Xenon) headlamps
(601), sun-moon-roof (650), on-board computer (659), preparation for CD changer
(689), Becker CD radio CDR220, leather rear seats (936), leather dashboard and
door panels (981), leather front seats (983) and Alcantara head
lining.
In addition, this car was subject to the ‘Personal programme’
option 09991 where the car is taken off the production line for fitment of
further bespoke choices which are unspecified without the original purchase
invoice.
The car also wears the GT3 Aero kit including side skirts,
bumper and rear wing, which may have something to do with the 09991option code,
or it could have been added at a later date, or by the supplying dealer. That
aside, the car looks and sounds like it means business for sure with its
aggressive stance, yellow brake callipers and raucous sound.
The history
file includes the V5C showing 4-previous owners to the current of 2 years, the
owner’s pack and replacement service book revealing 14 service stamps, the last
in October 2020 at 79,259 miles by CMD Porsche Specialists who have maintained
the car since 2007 and account for 9 of the stamps, the others by Porsche main
dealers. In addition, the book contains a further 5 stamps for brake fluid
changes and 2 for Long-life condition report checks.
The file also
includes a host of invoices for routine maintenance and parts including a recent
spend on suspension 2 bump stops, 2 top mounts and pair of front coil springs in
June-21, IMS seal in April-21, service kit in September 2020, timing chain
tensioner and oil pressure sensor in August 2020, ignition coil in Jan-20,
stainless steel manifold set costing £600, Sachs clutch kit and IMS bearing/seal
replacement in Oct-20, all new discs, pads brake pipes and flexi’s in December-
19, repair kit for 2nd gear popping out from the States in August-19,
Dansk stainless steel sports back box costing £937 in Sept-19, gearbox rebuild
in June 2016 costing £3,343, wheel refurb in 2009 costing £639 to name but a few
of the vast array of invoices on file dating back to 2007.
Furthermore,
we also find 10 old MOTs plus the current, valid until January 2022 with no
advisories recorded. The MOT history reveals the car to have covered only a few
thousand miles, if that per year over the past few years up to its current of
80,000 miles.
No surprise then, the car looks as tidy as it does.
Certainly, one of the most appealing manual 996’s we’ve seen for some time with
nearly new Pirelli tyres fitted, various components underneath shot blasted and
repainted for protection, recent new brakes and all-important IMS done
preventatively combined with a mega spec and attractive mileage.
