Later model face-lift six-cylinder coupe in attractive colour scheme from long term ownership boasting 20 service stamps

Supplied new by Hughes Mercedes of Beaconsfield Ltd in October 1995 this later, mid-point facelift C124 series of E-Class Coupe comes to us in range-topping E320 guise featuring the powerful 217bhp 3.2-litre M104.992 engine which develops 310 NM of torque driving the rear wheels via 5-speed automatic transmission with Economy and Winter modes.

Finished in Azurite Blue and sitting on its original 8-hole 15-inch alloy wheels the car sits well but we did notice, has tired paint as pictured. Inside, we find cream leather interior, walnut trim, electric sunroof, electric windows, functioning seat-belt butlers, heated rear screen, dual zone climate control with A/C. The car shows 107,874 miles, covered by its 3-owners, the current lady owner has enjoyed the car since October 1998 covering the bulk of its indicated mileage.

The history file includes the V5C, owner’s pack and service book revealing 18 stamps plus 2 for brake fluid and 1 for coolant. In addition, we find a selection of invoices for parts and maintenance including £3,688 spent in January 2020 at 106,331 miles for a head gasket replacement and ECU repair in Sept-20. Investigations at this time were made to poor running which was traced to faulty injector wiring on number two cylinder resulting in over-fuelling which caused serious bore glazing. The engine was stripped, the piston and conrod removed and the bore professionally honed. No. 2 piston was refitted with new rings and all was as it should be.

Furthermore, the file includes 11 old MOTs and current, valid until March 2022 which recorded 1 advisory for OSR brake pipe rusting.
