1971 Triumph TR6
Fantastic UK PI spec example
(CP commission No.) in rare Mallard Green with black interior, walnut dash and
wire wheels - one of the best we've seen
Dating
from January 1971 (built 1970 according to chassis no.) this fantastic example
of the popular TR6 PI is a UK origin car and is finished in divine Mallard
Green, an exceptionally rare colour which looks almost black in photographs yet
gleams in daylight.
Coming to us from a very particular and careful Irish
collector the car looks fabulous and is, we think, one of the nicest TR6’s we’ve
been lucky enough to see. The car’s commission number begins CP designating it
as a fuel injected (PI) model, dating from 1970 (CP52772) and therefore a 150bhp
model, but without overdrive as there is no ‘O’ at the end of the commission
number.
The car was registered in Ireland in September 2013 and has been
with our collector since 2018, during which time he has expended time and money
bringing it up to the standard we see here including a full re-spray in its
original colour, had a new dash fitted, new hood, new carpets, the seats
re-foamed, new original fuel pump fitted, new clutch, new brakes, engine works
and 5-new tyres along with a re-trim of the boot, electric system checked and
all new stainless bumpers fitted.
The car starts and runs as it should,
sounding throaty as all good TR6’s do – that noise! The history file includes
the Irish log book, and 2 files of information. One file contains useful info on
the marque/model and the other Irish SORN docs, invoices, copy registration
docs, invoices for parts purchased and works done totalling at least c.£10,000.
Furthermore we find the owners manual and Expert guide to the TR6 which will no
doubt prove useful.
The car is recorded on the International TR Registry
and is understood to drive well with a huge history since our collector owner
purchased and recommissioned the car along with 3 sets of keys. The TR6 was
previously registered in the UK however, the registration has been recorded
incorrectly on the Irish import docs as KEHTR74H. However, the vendor has
undertaken to supply a NOVA numer for the car on successful sale,
which should incur no duty given it was originally a UK supplied
example.
