2001 Rolls-Royce Park
Ward
One of only 127 extended wheelbase Silver
Seraph-based models produced with extra rear leg room; only 67,300 miles from
new; V12 power; superb example and 1 of just 24 in RHD - exceedingly rare
opportunity
When the Silver Seraph was launched in
1998, the most significant break with tradition was, of course, the adoption of
BMW engines, the Seraph's power unit being the powerful and whisper silent
5.3-litre, 60-degree V12, its engine management system appropriately
reconfigured for the heavier Rolls-Royce. The ZF five-speed automatic gearbox is
likewise sourced from the range topping BMW 750i.
Premiered at the 2000
Geneva Motor Show and introduced for the 2001 model year, the extended-wheelbase
version of the Silver Seraph took its name from Rolls-Royce's in-house
coachbuilder, Park Ward, which had been wholly owned since 1939.
The
Park Ward had 10" (250mm) added between its front and rear doors, increasing the
legroom for passengers. The Silver Seraph ceased production in 2002 when
manufacture of all Rolls-Royce motor cars ended at the historic Crewe factory,
by which time only 127 of the LWB Park Ward variant had been produced with just
24 of those in right-hand drive, of which this beautiful example is
one.
Costing over £220,000 when new, this right-hand drive car was
supplied new to Japan in 2001 and subsequently directly imported by a
Rolls-Royce collector and UK-registered in December 2020.
The Seraph’s
history file includes service history by supplying Rolls-Royce main dealer,
Cornes of Tokyo, indicating the services carried out in addition to a recent
service and conversion to MPH by a noted Rolls-Royce specialist costing £1,445
in July of this year including replacement driver information panel. The
odometer shows just 67,338 miles with our sole UK owner covering only a handful
since import (108,056Km at import – 67,142 miles). The current MOT is valid
until 4th December 2021 with no advisories recorded.
Limited-production
Rolls-Royce have always commanded a premium in the market and a long-wheel base
modern Rolls is exceptionally rare and is worth serious consideration by
collectors and enthusiasts alike.
