1978 Aristocat XK 120 Roadster
Recently
renewed twin exhausts and new tyres fitted; Jaguar 4.2 auto donor vehicle;
XK motoring on a budget
The
Aristocat is just one of a variety of machines available from race-prep experts
Autotune Ltd, based in Rishton, Lancashire.
Launched in 1983, the Aristocat
XK120 was designed to use a Jaguar XJ6 as a donor vehicle, the engine and
gearbox fitting neatly into an Autotune-supplied spaceframe which also accepted
the standard Jaguar suspension and steering. The result is a wider car than the
original XK120 upon which it is styled, making it more comfortable for genuine
6-footers as well as having a larger boot.
This Aristocat was ordered and
assembled by a gent from Reading in c.1995 according to the paperwork on
file, with the help of a 1978 4.2 donor Jaguar. Presented with an automatic
gearbox and racing livery on the blue body, it is thought that it was originally
built for use on track days. The substantial folder of invoices detail the
majority of the original build, itemising and pricing almost every
option.
The car has not been with our vendor for long, although we
understand he had a cracking time driving the Black Mountains Run this year.
Since then, he has fitted new twin exhausts and new tyres. The only
reason for sale is that the car is fairly low slung, which doesn't suit the
bumpy track leading to the vendors house!
Now MOT exempt, it last passed
an MOT in September 2020 with only some minor advisories regarding the
suspension ball joints and is presented here with its nice registration
number OBW 5T which is included in the sale. Good luck and
enjoy….
Bidders should be made aware that there appears to be a power
steering fluid leak which will need attention before road
use.
