Reserve
Last of the 'proper' RWD Volvo's here in top
spec Luxury Edition guise with 3.0 engine & auto 'box; LPG converted; useful
recent works to bring it up to par
Supplied new in
November 1997 by Viking House Volvo of Salisbury this smart, and seemingly now
rare 960 series V90 estate is one of the last of this generation and era of
styling, coming to us in run-out Luxury spec, finished in a super hue of purple
and riding on its original 15-inch 7-hole alloy wheels.
Under the bonnet
we find a powerful 3.0-litre straight-six B6304 24v petrol engine developing
180bhp driving the rear wheels via 4-speed automatic transmission with Winter,
Sports and Economy modes.
Inside, we find a soft, plush mushroom leather
interior with heated front seats, walnut trim, climate control with AC, heated
mirrors, power steering, Volvo radio/cassette/CD player, electric sunroof,
timber steering wheel and a retro-fit Bluetooth Parrot.
In addition to
the enhanced standard spec of the Luxury pack (wrongly branded SE on the log
book according to the vendor, detailed on a note in the file) this example
features tinted windows, tow hitch and an LPG system.
The car shows
134,000 miles which is a walk in the park for these mile-munching machines, this
figure backed up by a good history file including the V5C showing just 4
previous keepers to our Volvo enthusiast and club member owner who purchased the
car in May 2019, since when he has expended funds on it to bring it up to
par.
In addition, we find the Volvo owner’s pack with manuals, service
book revealing an impressive 19 stamps, the last in April 2021 at 133,524 miles
by Lewis’s Volvo dealer of Shrewsbury and an equally impressive 22 old MOTs plus
the current valid until September 2022 with 6 minor advisories noted (check
online by entering the reg at check-mot.service.gov.uk) and a tome of invoices
for parts and maintenance including the recent restorative spend by our vendor
which includes a new head gasket, new head bolts, spark plugs and timing belt
service in April 2021 costing £2,330, a new rear light unit which was special
order from Volvo Sweden.
Another £1,486 spend was in October 2020 on a
major service including camshaft sensor, top mount bushes, track control arms,
all new suspension bushes, lower arms, and body/underside repairs and protection
plus new radiator and expansion tank in November 2019 and exchange brake
callipers and new discs in October 2019. The spend goes on and totals at least
£5,000.
We also find an advert listing the car for sale in May 2019
referring to its past ownership by 1 company Director from 1997-2017. Another
document on file confirms the car won "Most original" Volvo, and also Best
700/900/V90 at the Volvo Enthusiasts Club National 2021 gathering – a nice
accolade for a lovely car and one that’s ready to be enjoyed, on offer here at
No Reserve.
