2009 Mercedes-Benz CL500 (C216)
Big, sleek and
well appointed 5.5 V8 coupe with AMG wheels and bidy-kit showing just under
79,000 miles; £110,000 when new!
Dating from March
2009 this attractive C216 series of Mercedes CL comes to us in 5.5 litre CL500
guise, pumping out a whopping 383bhp from its powerful V8 engine, driving the
rear wheels via 7-G (7-speed) automatic transmission putting down a colossal
530Nm of torque giving rather exciting performance of 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds –
not bad for a luxury laden 2 tonne+ behemoth!
Finished in Obsidian black
and riding on attractive 19inch staggered fitment AMG wheels, the car wears an
optional AMG body-kit which gives this spacious 2+2 coupe lovely attitude.
Inside, we find the usual huge spec of any S-Class based coupe, including (but
not limited to) double glazing, soft-close, acres of soft black (extended)
leather, piano black trim, front and rear parking sensors, automatic Xenon
lights, automatic wipers, glass sunroof, Comand navigation with BOSE sound,
electric, heated memory seats, radar guided cruise control, Bluetooth and an
assortment of other gadgetry and wizardry of tech as befits the top of the range
Mercedes of its era.
Showing just 78,988 miles, this big-hearted coupe is
barely run-in and comes with a useful history file, owned and maintained by a
local Mercedes specialist for the past couple of years, the car has wanted for
nothing being looked after in-house.
The file includes the V5C, hefty
owner’s pack & service book (duplicate) revealing 5 stamps, the last in 2014
at 52,798 miles with a ream of invoices to cover its service history from
2015-2019 including the last major service in April 2019 at 71,763 miles with
more recent work in March 2021 to replace the ABC/PAS pump, and in June 2019 to
replace an O/S front wheel speed sensor with other works documented at
considerable expense.
Ready to be enjoyed with a clean MOT valid until
August 2022, these CL coupes offer a huge amount of style, presence, substance
and performance at a fraction of their cost when new, over £110,000 in this
case(!) which looks mightily tempting at the guide price today.
