1968 MG Midget MkIII
No
Reserve
Rebuilt on a Heritage shell and given away in a
competition by Lloyds Bank in 1992; 3 owners and just 3,800 miles covered
since; wonderful example on offer at No Reserve
Dating from January 1968, this attractive MkIII Midget 1275 was
rebuilt on a Heritage shell with many new or reconditioned parts by the Euro M.G
Centre in Sussex ahead of a prize draw where the car was subsequently given away
with seven other Midgets and an E-Type by Lloyds Bank in a customer
competition for new Pensions in 1992.
The winner sold the car soon after
(what a party pooper!) to a chap, Mr Halsall who our long term owner purchased
the car from in November 1998. The recorded mileage at the time of the give-away
was 15,774, the car now showing 19,357 miles with only c.3,800 miles covered in
the last 23 years with much of the last 15 years its been kept in dry storage,
unused.
Since being pulled out of storage, work has included a new
water pump, new petrol pump and fuel pipes, new battery, clutch slave cylinder
brake fluid and all fluids. The King pins were also checked and lubricated along
with fitment of a new thermostat gasket and bottom hose plus new rack gaitors
and track rod end dust covers. The car was wax-oiled again to ensure sufficient
protection for road use.
The history file includes the V5C, old style
V5C, earlier V5, notes from the vendor on the car’s background and what works
were recently undertaken, advert from The Euro MG Centre with the car visible in
one of the images, running in procedure notice from the Euro MG Centre, Midget
parts catalogue and owner’s pack with additional MG spares provider booklets, a
selection of historic invoices dating from 1993-1999, 8 old MOTs spanning 1992
to 2001 (15,774 miles to 19,514 miles), owner’s manual and current MOT (although
exempt) valid until July 2022 with 4 advisories for 4 cracked tyres (age, and
lack of use).
In addition, in the boot there is a full tonneau cover and
half tonneau cover with fuel isolator switch on the right-hand side of the
boot.
Ready to be enjoyed, this cracking little Midget started on the
button and was driven up to us by its long-term owner who is happy to leave the
bidding in the hands of the bidders – the highest bid takes it away so get those
fingers clicking!
