1995 Mercedes-Benz SL320 (R129)

On offer from a deceased estate; starts, runs and drives but in need of some recommissioning following 2 years off the road

Supplied new in April 1995 this MY94 face-lift R129 series SL comes to us in 320 guise, powered by the 3.2 straight-six M104 24valve DOHC engine developing 228bhp driving the rear wheels via 5-speed automatic transmission with Sports and Economy modes.

Finished in Tanzanite Blue with factory colour coded hard top and bumpers, the car rides on its original 16inch 8-hole light alloy wheels and inside, features light grey leather interior with electric seat adjustment and driver’s memory, electric windows, mirrors and as a MY94 facelift car it has digital odometer (and clear front indicators) semi-digital climate control and Mercedes radio cassette with boot mounted CD changer.

The car shows 116,414 miles and comes to us from a deceased estate, having sat unused for the past couple of years. The car has been valeted and the engine bay steam cleaned and looks presentable bar a few minor cosmetic bits as pictured. We have not removed the hard top, the roll over bar button is flashing and likely needs a re-set after sitting with a flat battery which often prevents the roof being removed until reset, so we are unable to comment on the condition of the soft top.

The history file includes the V5C showing 4 previous owners the current of 6 years (now deceased), the owner’s pack and service book showing 12 stamps, the last in 2015, mileage not stated – all stamps bar the last have been by Mercedes main agents. In addition, we find 3 old MOT certificates and a spattering of invoices dating from 2009-2014 including a repair to a faulty roof module by BBA Reman in December 2009 costing £349, test of the soft top in February 2009 and a £500 spend in October 2010 on some ARB bushes and steering damper replacement.

Requiring a degree of gentle recommissioning and a new MOT, this SL should reward with stylish top down motoring once sorted - especially given the tempting guide price suggested.
