1988 Porsche 924 S
Late model 156bhp automatic
924 S in black showing just 79,852 miles; recent documented £6,300 spent on
remedial works
Supplied new in August 1988 by Ian
Anthony Ltd of Wilmslow, Cheshire this neat 924 is in more desirable and more
potent S form, meaning 156bhp (as a model year finale 1988 example) driving the
rear wheels here through 3-speed automatic transmission giving ample performance
for its era.
Finished in black and sitting upon a set of ‘Teledial’
alloy wheels, the car looks appealing and so very 80’s. Inside, we find a
simple, uncluttered dash layout with usable 2+2 seating finished in half black
vinyl and cloth, electric windows, electric lift-out sunroof, heated rear screen
and period radio cassette.
The car’s history file reveals it has
had seven owners, the current since August 2019 who purchased the car from
a dealer who had bought a collection including this car from a deceased estate.
The previous two owners to our current were both long term affairs of 17
and 19 years respectively.
The car has spent the last couple of years
gradually being improved by a classic car specialist in Chorley, our vendor
resides over seas and has sadly never seen or driven the car, with Covid
limiting travel so has opted to let us sell the car rather than it go into
storage. Recent remedial works carried out include replacement gearbox mounts,
new fuel tank sender, PAS cooler pipe, a repair to the sills and fitment of a
replacement front valence, replacement heater motor, wiper motor, repair to the
driver’s door lock and window mechanism, new radiator fan unit, replacement
seats, rear view mirror and boot seal.
Further mechanical works were
carried out to include fitment of new discs, pads, front wishbones, alternator,
exhaust centre section, new horns, rear light, gearbox service and timing belt
change with new rollers and tensioner in Jan 2020. Prior to these works, in
November 2019 the car received a 12,000 mile service with new Bosch injectors,
new brake fluid, new fuel pump, relay and fitment of a new dash top.
The
above recent works and parts spend are documented on file, totalling some £6,300
in addition to the V5C, owner’s pack and service book revealing 7 stamps plus 2
further stamps for brake fluid and coolant changes. The last service stamp was
by Hartech Porsche in October 2006 at 79,738, the most recent service as noted
above has not been stamped but is documented. Furthermore 12 old MOTs are also
on file dating from 1992 at 9,146 miles up to 2003 at 79,189 miles from when the
car appears to have been off the road until bought out of the deceased owners
estate in 2019. The current MOT is valid until July 2022 with no advisories
recorded at 79,852 miles showing just a handful covered since 2003.
A
later, higher power example with lower mileage in a desirable colour scheme and
rarer option of automatic transmission – ideal budget conscious classic Porsche
ownership with a great owner’s club scene and wide availability of parts and
know-how.For more information contact - [email protected]
