1997 Aston Martin DB7 i6
Well maintained (with
31 service stamps!) supercharged 3.2 i6 coupe with sleek lines and well
appointed interior - affordable Aston ownership
Supplied new by Paramount Motors Limited of Stourbridge in August
1997 this sleek Aston DB7 i6 features the Jaguar sourced 3.2 litre Supercharged
AJ6 straight-six engine developing 335bhp and whopping 489Nm of torque giving
the i6 DB7 a 0-60mph time of 6.4 seconds with the 4-speed auto ‘box and a top
speed of 160mph.
Finished in dark green and sittting upon its original
12-spoke turbine alloy wheels with contrasting parchment hide interior piped
green and matching green dash roll, door card tops and carpets the interior is,
as with any Aston, a superb place to be. We also see walnut veneer, climate
control with A/C, 4-speed automatic transmission, cruise control, cream suede
headlining, electric heated seats and original radio cassette with boot mounted
CD changer.
The car has covered 101,808 miles – the interior in
remarkable order, the bodywork also very good bar a couple of small blemishes as
pictured more than commensurate with its age and mileage. Starting promptly and
moving about with ease while we took these shots, you’re reminded of what a
beautiful, sleek and simple shape/design this original i6 DB7 is, undoubtedly
one of Ian Callum’s best.
The car has been with our enthusiast owner for
the last 6 years and 8,000 miles, delivering the car to us himself some 145miles
without issue. A reluctant sale, he feels with such little recent use the car
would be best enjoyed by someone who can give it more regular exercise.
The history file is impressive. In it, we find the V5C showing 9
previous owners, the owner’s pack and service book, with continuation booklet
revealing some 31 service stamps inc. PDI, the last by Aston Martin Welwyn at
98,575 miles in May 2019 (current mileage 101,808).. 20 of the 31 service stamps
have been by Aston Martin main dealers, or Aston Martin Heritage – most
impressive for a 24 year old car.
In addition, we find a workshop manual
CD, 8 old MOTs and a stack of invoices including a recent (unstamped) annual
service by PanAuto Services at 101,652 miles in May 2021 at a cost of £265 and a
host of annual service invoices as stamped including one in July 2016 costing
£2,874. The current MOT is valid until May 2022 which recorded 4 advisories for
faulty reversing lights, a leak to the oil cooler pipes, corrosion to the NSR
closing sill and front brake imbalance.
A pretty car that’s
had fortunes spent on it with an impressive service record – it looks
enticing at the modest guide price and an awful lot of car for the money Mr
Bond.
