Earlier, well loved 4.0 V8 Chim' with 16 stamps and clean MOT with scope for minor cosmetic improvement

Supplied new in April 1995 by H.R Owen of London this pre-facelift Chimaera features the 240bhp 4.0 Rover V8 engine mated to 5-speed manual transmission, driving the rear wheels with no driver aids. No surprise the performance on offer, even from this, the ‘entry level’ Chim’ is scintillating given the cars low weight GRP body resulting in a 0-60mph time of just 5.1 seconds.

Finished in Cooper Green with contrasting parchment hide and matching green dash roll and centre console accents with wood veneer dash trim. Outside we find an aftermarket mesh grill insert and a set of 17inch 7-spoke lightweight alloy wheels in grey shod with a decent set of Cooper tyres.

Starting promptly as we manoeuvred the car round for these shots and video the car felt, and sounded as it should with that wonderful V8 burble TVR’s are so known for.

In our vendor’s hands since August 2019, he has found little opportunity to enjoy the car with all the restrictive lockdowns so has opted to let us find it a new home at No Reserve. The car’s history file reveals a V5C showing 5 previous owners, owner’s pack and service section with an impressive 16 stamps including PDI, the last by Thameside Automotive of Shepperton, Surrey in September 2014 at 76,321 miles.

To back up its 83,005 miles currently indicated, a sheaf of paperwork accompanies this Lot in addition to the stamped service book, purchase invoice dated February 2004 (at which time the chassis was wax oil injected) and 12 old MOTs including, but not limited to bills for a routine service and maintenance. Others include fitment of new radiator hoses May 2020 and repair to a wiring error also in 2020 which was causing a battery drain, new veneer dash in 2019, fuel regulator in 2011, new windscreen and replacement rear diff unit in 2009 and a reconditioned steering rack in 2005.

For peace of mind the TVR comes with a clean MOT valid until December 2021 which bodes well for the new owner. Spend some time improving some minor cosmetics commensurate with its age and mileage and you should have a very usable and tidy Chimaera to enjoy, values are only going up.
