Description
1972 Volkswagen Beetle 1300
Recent full
respray; most brightwork replaced, new carpets and door cards; new tyres and
wheels recently fitted; brakes overhauled; ready for action
The earlier of
the two Beetles in the auction is presented here and you can see there is a
marked difference, especially regarding the interior features and not to mention
subtle differences in the bodywork.
The vendor, an
accomplished mechanic and no stranger to restoring cars, has had this Volkswagen
since 2005. During 2018 and 2019, approximately £4,000 has been spent on the
car. He has done the work himself so there are few invoices on file but it has
included a bare metal respray and renewal of all bright work and new hub
caps.
New door
cards, carpets, handles and headlamps have been fitted. A full brake overhaul
has taken place, renewal of carburettor, new fuel pump, master cylinder unit and
original heat exchangers have all been worked on. New distributor cap, leads and
plugs too which means it certainly runs and drives and arrived at Brightwells
under its own steam.
Like many cars
of this age, the interior is a little used and although it is perfectly
presentable, it would need a few jobs doing if you were going to go for awards
at shows etc…
