Description
1987 Mercedes-Benz 300SE (W126)
Late '80
S-Class in super order throughout; impeccable service history; from a deceased
estate; current owner since 1995; a rising star
Supplied new by
Continental Cars Cardiff Ltd in March 1987 and finished in Arctic White with
contrating blue velour interior this must have been quite the car back
then. Equipped with the proven 188bhp 3.0 straight-six petrol engine,
developing 188bhp driving the rear wheels through 4-speed automatic trasmission,
it provided fast, safe and luxurious executive transport.
First
owned by Headgrade Ltd of Cwmbran and registered then as D734 MWD, they kept
it until February 1993 when the second owner acquired the car, a
Monmouth gentleman who kept it until June 1995 when our vendor
acquired it and put on the personalised registration number B2
HTC which stays with the vehicle and has a letter from Regtransfers valuing
it at £600.
The W126 was once considered one of the best cars in the
world in terms of quality and this is still apparent, the car looking and
feeling as if it was but a few years old and covered a handful of miles when in
fact, its 34 years old and shows 119,537 miles. The bodywork looks superb, the
interior excellent with electric windows, electric passenger mirror,
Zebrano wood trim, electric sunroof, heated rear screenm dual zone
temperature control, period radio/cassette player and rear seat net
pockets. Pleasingly, the car has retained its original wheel trims - an
uncommon sight these days with many having been changed out for alloy
wheels.
The history file includes the owner's pack and service book
showing an impressive 23 stamps with all but the last 3 by the same two Mercedes
main agents (supplying dealer Continental Cars Cardiff, and Andrew
MacDonald & Co. of Monmouth, and later Abergavenny) the last 3 by local MB
specialist Gerry Doverman and Porsche specialist APS Automotive of Raglan.
The last stamped service was by APS Automotive in May 2017 at 117,919
miles. Five further stamps furnish the service book in addition to
those mentioned for renewal of the brake fluid, the last recorded in 2009.
The history file also includes the current MOT vald until
April 2022 showing just one minor advisory for 'n/s and o/s front brake pipes
corroded, covered in grease or other material'. The MOT history reveals the car
has covered little over 2,500 miles in the last 4 years.
