Description
1999 Porsche Boxster (986)
Smart, manual 986
series 2.5 Boxster showing just 69,900 miles with attractive spec and good
supporting history
Dating from June 1999 and supplied by Lindbrook
Porsche of Kent, this earlier, pre -02 facelift example was built at the
Valmet factory in Finland (502) and features the venerable 2.5-litre flat-six
sitting amidship which develops 201bhp - enough to wing it from zero to
sixty in 6.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 149mph.
Fitted here
with the desirable five-speed manual 'box, the car is finished in Arctic Silver
Metallic (L92U) with contrasting black leather interior and electric Mohair hood
with plastic rear screen. We note the car is fitted with the following options,
17" Carrera-look twist spoke alloys, staggered fitment (396), CD compartment
(424), coloured crest wheel centre caps (446), six-speaker sound system (490),
wind deflector (551), front centre console - yes, this was an option! (581),
storage box atop engine cover in the cabin (584), On-board computer (659),
Becker CDR-22 stereo (695), leather door panels and dash (981) and pleated
leather seats (982).
Showing just 69,900 miles, the car has covered a low
mileage for its age and presents well, evidently having been well looked after
by its previous owners. The history file includes the V5C, owner's pack
and service book with six stamps (+ two hand written entries), the
most recent stamped service being in September 2020 at 69,849 miles plus a
further three stamped brake fluid changes, four stamps for long life
guarantee condition reports and one for airbag system checks.
Furthermore, we find an impressive 17 old MOTs on file in addition to
the current MOT valid until January 2022 with no advisories recorded and
a selection of invoices dating back to 2010. Works of note include a
recent £615 spend in October 2019 on six new coils, cylinders one-three
spark plug tubes and cylinders one-three variocam solenoids, cam chain and
slippers by RJC Automotive of Berkshire, invoices for the purchase of these
parts and a new air mass sensor in July 2020.
A look through
the MOT history shows the car has covered only approximately 16,000 miles
in the last 16 years, which is not much, the car is clearly crying out to
be used and enjoyed more often - so get busy with those bidding fingers on
the keyboard and become the next owner of a rising star in the Modern
Classic world, a properly enjoyable and affordable yet practical
Porsche.
