2003 BMW M3 Convertible (E46)
Facelift example
with desirable 6-speed manual 'box with Oxblood leather interior and
stainless backbox showing just 79,800 miles
Supplied new by Mann
Autohaus Ltd in September 2003 this attractive E46 series M3 convertible is
finished in grey with contrasting oxblood leather interior and desirable Getrag
6-speed manual transmission. The car sits on 19inch wheels and is fitted
with a stainless sports back box giving the car a distinctive and sporty rasp.
This certainly enhances the bark of the M3's legendary S54 3.2-litre
straight-six which develops a mighty 340bhp at a screaming 7,900rpm boasting
individual throttle bodies and drive-by wire throttle actuation.
Starting
promptly as we manouvered it around for these shots. The black mohair hood and
glass rear screen deliver cosy winter motoring ahead of top-down spring and
summer fun. In the mean time, hunker down into the heated electric sports
seats, let the automatic xenon headlights worry about illumination,
crank up the automatic digital climate control with AC and put the pedal to the
metal. M3's are always exciting to start up, the warm-up lights steadily
going out on the rev-counter until you can open them up and enjoy the sharp
perfomance on offer.
The history file includes the V5C showing 6 previous
owners to the current, service book showing 8 stamps, the last in January 2021
at 79,650 miles with the first 6 by BMW main dealers including the PDI and
running in service. In addition there are a couple of invoices including
new drilled Brembo discs and pads for front and rear in July 2019 at a cost of
£499.99 and new stainless rear exhaust back boxes at a cost of £225 in January
2021, two old MOTs and an old purchase receipt from 2014 and the current
MOT valid until January 2022 with no advisories recorded. A quick glance at the
MOT history shows the car has seen little use since the last previous MOT in
August 2018 at 79,641 miles and remained in storage in the Brecon Beacons until
being pulled out ahead of this sale.
On offer at en enticing estimate
giving scope for the new owner to tidy up a few minor cosmetics (pictured)
theres a lot of fun to be had in a drop-top M3 and its interesting to note
how E46 M3 prices have been climbing again of late, being the last of the
legendary naturally aspirated, high revving S50/S54 series engine giving a more
'analogue' driving experience with a proper manual 'box.
