2001 Range Rover 4.0 HSE
(P38)
One of the very last, registered in October 2001,
showing just 86,986 miles; attractive spec and colour
scheme
Supplied new by Farnell Land Rover of Leeds on 12th
October 2001 and finished in desirable Alvaston Red metallic sat on twin spoke
18inch Hurricane alloy wheels this very late model P38 Range Rover comes to us
in high spec HSE guise featuring the later 'Thor' version of the Rover 4.0 V8
mated to four-speed automatic transmission with H-gate for off-road gear
options.
Dating from October 2001, on a '51-plate' it must surely be
one of the last P38's registered before replacement by the L322 version and
looks to be attractive both inside and out having covered just 86,986 miles.
Starting promptly and running as it should whilst we moved it around for these
shots your reminded what a big comfortable vehicle they are, ensconced in cream
leather arm chairs with individual arm rests with walnut trim, heated electric
seats, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, OBC, rear
ventillation, electric mirrors, glass sunroof and powerful
original spec Harman Kardon sound system with built in subwoofer.
Riding
on adjustable air-suspension which works as it should, going up and down in but
a few moments it looks as it should with a discreet V8 burble and useful tow
hitch at the rear with double plugs, ideal for towing with so much V8 grunt
available.
Its history file includes a V5C, 2 keys, owner's pack and
service book showing 8 entries inc. PDI, current MOT running until October
2021 with two minor advisories recorded (one of which has since been attended
to), 13 old MOTs dating back to 2005 and a stack of invoices including more
recently, new rear pads, new exhaust centre box, new o/s and n/s rear brake
pipes in October 2018 at a cost of £598, new HT leads and spark plugs in April
2020, new Bosch air mass sensor in August 2020 at £219, pre-mot checks, new
front drop links and a door lock repair in September 2020 costing £245,
poly-bush kit fitted to the front suspension arms and new steering column shaft
in August 2017 costing £396 plus new air conditioning condenser and pipes in May
2017. In addition to these invoices there are further service and parts bills
dating back to 2012 plus a certificate showing the Range Rover was treated to an
extended warranty from new lasting until 2004.
One of the usual foibles
of this model is a sagging headlining, fortunately this has recently been done
with a brand new cream headlining fitted with some of the recent work undertaken
documented both in print in classic car media and on YouTube.
Late model
P38's have really begun to rise in value quite significantly after a few years
of looking perhaps a little 'old hat' they have really found their feet again
and good sub-100k examples are being snapped up and hidden away for investment
or used and enjoyed daily as they should be without all the complication and
depreciation of a more modern Range Rover.
