Plant & Machinery: Small Plant Auction Assistant
Office based (Madley, HR2 9NH)

The Job
This role presents an exciting opportunity to work as a key member of our small plant auction. Day to day you will be moving equipment around the yard using one of our telehandlers or by hand as well as photographing all types of small tools, small-engined plant, materials, attachments & other consignments. You will report to the Small Auction Manager and have a high level of autonomy in organising the sale yard and ensuring good quality photographs have been taken to help with our online sales. Previous experience in agriculture, building or plant & machinery would be preferable but not essential, full training will be given in all aspects of the job. What is essential is a keen interest in used machinery and auction sales.
- Assisting the auction manager to ensure clear and quality photos are taken
- Organising the auction yard to ensure lots are well presented & free from damage
- Moving hand tools pre and post sale
- Handing out purchased lots from purchaser’s pass outs
- Occasionally assisting with moving trucks & machinery around our auction site
- Assisting the office admin staff where necessary
- Assisting with sale day activities including speaking to customers about potential offers on machinery, potential future entries or equipment and reserve prices
The Person
This role will be a mostly outdoors role which will see you work alongside our friendly yard team while spending some time in the office from time to time to assist with booking in lots and covering some simple reception duties at peak times throughout our sale cycles or for holiday cover. The role requires someone with a positive “can-do” attitude who is happy to help anyone and everyone on site to get the job done. You will be required to work outdoors in all weathers as well as being physically fit to lift and move some items of hand held machinery & materials. You will also be required to drive a telescopic handler, thorough training will be provided. Knowledge & a keen interest in building or agriculture, is a huge positive. Interest in professional auction services is desirable.

- The successful candidate will be both confident, and keen to learn our trade
- Ability to take instruction and follow Health & Safety legislation
- Be career driven and keen to progress
- Strong English skills
- Computer literacy and confidence using IT/mobile phones will be a positive
- Previous experience is not essential
- Telehandler certificate will be a benefit but is not an essential
