Description
Cracking example; meticulously maintained with stacks of
paperwork; back in the UK after spending some 16 years in the sunny Costa Del
Sol; driven to the sale
Supplied new by Swain & Jones Jaguar of
Farnham to a Mr Gunston in August 1992, this superb 4.0-Litre XJS comes with a
stacked history folder to back up the lovely condition that is seen
throughout.
Our vendor purchased this grand tourer from XJS specialist
Clarkes Jaguar in March 2016, at which point it had spent the previous 16 years
in the sunny Costa del Sol, hence the good state of preservation today.
A
detailed three-page hand-written note details all of the work carried out on
this splendid Jaguar from new to the current day, backed up by an
impressive amount of invoices. These include no fewer than 26 services (10 of
which have taken place in our vendor's ownership), which equates to an average
service interval of just 5,300 miles, the odometer currently showing 138,813
miles. The service book itself shows 21 stamps, the most recent in April this
year.
Immediately after our vendor's purchase a full service including a
coolant system flush took place. Invoices for a new hood, headlining and full
carpet set from Aldridge Trimming in August 2016 can also be seen at this
time.
The most notable recent invoices show work for a new exhaust
downpipe with catalytic converter in March 2017, a new battery in September 2023
and a full service and new AC compressor in April 2024 when it also flew
through its MOT with no advisories recorded.
Looking lovely in
our classic car barn, the new magnolia carpets blend nicely with the
cream leather interior that shows only modest signs of wear, the bodywork looks
to be nice and straight and the Flamenco Red paintwork may have been
re-finished but this was clearly to a high standard and it looks
great.
Clearly a much-cherished machine, this super XJS was driven 30
miles to the sale and is ready to enjoy over the remaining summer
months.
