LVG50B MERCEDES-BENZ 0 319 D Bus
Ultra
rare and ultra chic; 2-litre diesel with manual transmission; 13-seater;
currently used for film, TV, promo and wedding work
Dating from
1964, this fabulous 0 319D bus has won many hearts and minds since its arrival
at Brightwells ahead of this sale and has gone viral on various Facebook pages
and forums.
The bus has been sitting in a private collection for some
time in South Wales with occasional outings for PR, Weddings and TV work.
Finished in green and white, one of the four period two-tone colour schemes
available when new (according to the period brochure included), the interior has
seating for 13 including the driver with side entrance (with wonderful automatic
doors) and a useful boot area at the back.
The original 55hp diesel
engine looks to have been changed for a more powerful two-litre diesel, although
perhaps a modern Mercedes Sprinter diesel engine might be the way to go,
potential future use depending of course. The bus looks to be very sound
throughout, both cosmetically and internally, with the discovery of a period
ticket machine in the boot with ticket prices in 5 pence increments which looks
and sounds like it may just work.
The history file includes the charming
period sales brochure, original service book with two stamps dating from 1967
and 1968, a comprehensive parts catalogue, partial V5 and a selection of sundry
invoices showing that a new temperature gauge and fuel gauge were fitted in 2012
and a lube service plus repairs to the braking system in 2011. There are eight
old MOT certificates on file, the last expiring in August 2018 which showed no
advisories for that or the previous couple of years.
We love this bus and
note that the few others that have sold across Europe recently have all made six
figures. “Have your tickets ready please”….
