The Natural History and Sporting Section usually includes between 1-200 and is held twice annually within 1-Day Fine Art Sales.
With a growing interest in Natural History, Brightwells are delighted to offer vendor’s the opportunity to market their items through this new specialist section. The sale is conducted online and attracts an international audience of specialist dealers and collectors.
Taxidermy, scientific skins, lepidopterist and entomologist collections are at the core of the sale. We have recently had great success selling cases containing unusual species including Sharp-tailed Sandgrouse, Giant Snipe, Cape Teal and Egyptian Vulture by noted taxidermists such as Peter Spicer, Cooper and Rowland Ward. We are also keen to encourage collections of fossils, minerals and shells, as well as libraries and prints of ornithological and natural history interest.
The second part of the sale includes Sporting Memorabilia including shooting, fishing and hunting items along with more unusual rural past times such as falconry and coursing. We also see collectables of more general sporting interest such as football, rugby, cricket and golf. Brightwells are Registered Firearms Dealers and can offer for sale shotguns and firearms to purchasers in possession of the relevant permits.
The sale is catalogued by Daniel Webb, an extremely enthusiastic birdwatcher and falconer with passion for anything to do with natural history.
